Connection to the company Fa. Karmann

Recently improved railroadcrossing
This used to be the location of Bahnhof Altenrheine (some old pictures at Armin Mühls website)

This small shunting yard, called Rheine TN (Tecklenburger Nordbahn) has seen some work too. The connection to the old factory across the road has disappeared, though some rails remain hidden in the trees.

Another picture of the shunting yard. The main line is to the left behind the trees. The rails of the righthand track are in places kept at the right gauge with threaded bars because the ties are too rotten to hold any screws.

To the left is the connection to Rheine Standtberg

The bridge over the river Ems.

The line runs over a high dam and crosses several roads and the railwayline Münster-Salzbergen

.

Here our railway meets up with the long gone railroad to Ochtrup, which is now mostly a bicycle path.

Many rails have been removed. In the distance Rheine station. Signalbox 'Rnw' is now a private home and has obtained monument status. Some more information on this 'Stellwerk' can be found on www.museumsstellwerk.de.

Here is a link to a German 'railtracker' who visited the line in 2001: R Haug: Rheine-Spelle-Fürstenau-Quakenbrück
