End of the 1960's a new seaport was dug in the north-east corner of the Netherlands. There was great confidence in economic progress in this region, supported by a government policy to spread industry away from the crowded west. But allready at the opening of the port in 1973 it was obvious the predictions were far too optimistic. Not one company had signed up.

Nowadays some companies have appeared but the mayor part of the grounds still lie unused and the port is mostly a world of wind turbines.

It's Sunday and though there is not much to see or do here, many bored people come to cruise around and take a stroll.
