On the turbinenhalle most reconstruction work seemed to be done. I wonder how much of the old building is still there, most looked pretty new to me. They closed of most of the windows, which made it a bit difficult to explore (I-forgot-my-flashlight). It must have been a very impressive place once. Imagine a room the size of a church, large windows and looking down onto enormously big machinery.

Inside the turbinenhalle.

March 23, 2002. Construction workers removing the roof. I believe it is going to be a cinema, but I also heard a restaurant. Maybe both. The rockmuseum ("turbinenhalle") seems finished, the scaffolding is gone. In the background the "White Lady".

Not as derelict as other abandoned places in Gronau but decay has started. Algae growing on the window blinds, garden overgrowing, a large padlock on the fence... A house on the Enschedese strasse near the town center.

Watertowers and chimney. The factory to the left was demolished not so long ago, hence the fences. There's a hole in the ground. Picture from www.gronau-online.de
