Not much information to be found about this greenhouse complex on the
internet. I guess the owner went bankrupt and it was abandoned a decade
or more ago.
The entry has once been blocked but the
fence is wide open now
Broken sheets near the entry, possibly (probably)
containing asbestos.
A pirate treasure chest filled with gold
coins. (Actually, I forgot to look but probably empty. Sorry)
Most of the greenhouse area is covered by
'greater bindweed' (haagwinde oftewel pispotje), which creates a
strange jungle-like atmosphere
On the main path beneath the bindweed I walk on a layer of glass shards.
More worrying are the loose shards still hanging above my head on this windy
day. The broken glass here is probably the result of vandalism, as most
of the glass sheets in the greenhouse away from this main path are intact.
Through this glassless door we enter a totally
different part of the greenhouse
This is what happens to roses if they aren't
pruned for a decade or so! They grow to the roof (and beyond) leaving everything
below in gloomy darkness
Attempt at arson. Sadly this seems to be
standard procedure at all abandoned locations in Leeuwarden.
