Just before the line disappeared into another tunnel it crosses a highway, having turnouts which enter a tunnel just below our metro tunnel.

Strange crossing in the track. Tunnel entrance straight ahead.

Looking down on the highway from the viaduct. (Charleroi Expo)

Next to the tunnel entrance was a doorway leading to some strange shaped room but this turned out to be a dead end.
Stepping out of this room we were looking straight into the headlights of a metro train!
We ducked back inside. It really looked like the train was heading our way, only that could not be because here too the track was overgrown with trees.
Looking back outside we saw the metro making a turn just before the tunnel exit. The active track makes a bend just before the tunnel exit. We could see it clearly with the next metro heading the other way. Now we were looking at the red rear lights.
We went in for a closer look, checking carefully for security camera's.

Looking into the tunnel, metro riding away.

Long exposure versus flash. Active track from goes from straight ahead to the right.

Around the corner
We took some pictures of the connection of the deserted track with the active one, until Ben said: "We will really be in the spotlights if another train comes". This was followed by rumbling in the distance of a quickly approaching train. We went back out of the tunnel, but were too slow and indeed stood in the spotlights for a few moments.
We headed back to the car and Panic and Petr without any pause.
