A Farm

27-04-02
I noticed this small farm from the train, all boarded up. It is right on the western edge of Hengelo, almost in Borne. It is easy to understand why this farm has been abandoned. On the north side a new industrial area is being developed, on the east side a new road is being build between the existing and the already very nearby highway A1. On the westside it borders on the town of Borne and on the south side it is closed of by the railway. Only one or two small fields remain near the farm.

(Almost) view from the train

Other side. Build in 1857 according to the stone above one of the doors.

Sticker on the door: "This object is guarded by Redon Security. At trouble call ..."

Overgrown henhouse and badly kept orchard. Maybe the last time the appletrees blossom.

It started to rain so I took shelter in the halfopen barn. A policecar drove by but they didn't notice me or didn't think I was suspicious enough to get out of the car for.

A "koploper" intercity train heading west.

Still raining. The farmhouse is completely boarded up. The only way in without brute force I could find was that small roof window.

Someone tried to get in by brute force though. Damaged door and chips missing from the wall. Wether he succeeded I don't know, door was locked or blocked (again) when I was there.

Bye farm. Cycling away on the new road.
