26-03-05: Part 4 of my hiking holiday from Quakenbrück to Coesfeld

Directly behind BW Rheine a double track bends away to the west. The rails have disappeared, probably at the the same time the rails in the shuntingyard (Rbh Rheine) were removed.

Firstly the stream Frischebach is crossed by a culvert. There is quite a difference in hight between the track and the stream. Next a former connecting track between the BW and the active track is crossed. To the left the farmer has plowed away all evidence of this track but to the right it is still clearly visible.

After crossing the main road to Hauenhorst by a bridge. Fortunately the track is still here.

Another connecting track came from Rbh Rheine, it is now a bicycle path.

The place both lines came together was secured by this signal box. It is now a private home. Remnants of the level crossing barriers (D: Schranken) can still be seen.

Raffeisen still has a loading track at their disposal, but it hasn't been used in a long while.

Station Hauenhorst, now someones home. The platform can still be recognised (not in picture). The rails crossing the road K66 directy past the station have been removed, there's even a ditch dug across it.
