After the unpassable bit they have cut a
path through the jungle. Getting close to Lutum as I can here the trains
on the line Coesfeld - Münster squeezing their way through the bends. |
Here we are |
The rest of the line to Rheine (left) runs
parallel to the line to Münster (right) as quasi double track |
Bahnhof Lutum. To my surprise trains still
halt here, there's even a ticket machine. The station building itself is
out of use. |
One bicycle is the only evidence of anyone
actually taking the train here. Otherwise the station looks pretty deserted
on this Easter Monday. The Rheine - Coesfeld track (right) has been removed
here. |
Near km 64.5 the active track changes sides.
Now the (former) Coesfeld - Münster track lays abandoned |
'Schrankenposten 35'. Distant past in the
Netherlands but still often found in Germany, a guardhouse along the railway
line to close the barriers at nearby road crossings. The guard didn't seem
very happy about me taking pictures by the way. Maybe I should've shaved. |
A so-called 'lightrail-vehicle' passes every
half-hour. |
