After the unpassable bit they have cut a path through the jungle. Getting close to Lutum as I can here the trains on the line Coesfeld - Münster squeezing their way through the bends.

Here we are

The rest of the line to Rheine (left) runs parallel to the line to Münster (right) as quasi double track

Bahnhof Lutum. To my surprise trains still halt here, there's even a ticket machine. The station building itself is out of use.

One bicycle is the only evidence of anyone actually taking the train here. Otherwise the station looks pretty deserted on this Easter Monday. The Rheine - Coesfeld track (right) has been removed here.

Near km 64.5 the active track changes sides. Now the (former) Coesfeld - Münster track lays abandoned

'Schrankenposten 35'. Distant past in the Netherlands but still often found in Germany, a guardhouse along the railway line to close the barriers at nearby road crossings. The guard didn't seem very happy about me taking pictures by the way. Maybe I should've shaved.

A so-called 'lightrail-vehicle' passes every half-hour.
