Bridge over the Giegel Aa (funny name)

Rails, backpack, tent near Spelle.

"Halt für Zugfahrten" (hikers not mentioned) and real trafficlights on this foggy morning

A crosstie and a sign block the rails for trains coming from Rheine. From this point on to Rheine the railway is still in use.

"Das Sanitätshaus", formerly known as Bahnhof Spelle. Trains can still reach the station and its loading platform as the tracks are maintained and free from growth, though the somewhat rusty tracks suggest this does not occure often.

The concrete factory on the right is visited more often. Note the telegraph poles, out of use because in many places the wires are missing or have fallen down.

A row of cars with concrete elements is standing ready to be taken away.

Bridge crossing the Dortmund-Ems canal

After the highway A30, a switch to a new container (road-rail) terminal.

Though the crane is obviously second-hand. Previously it was located at Rheine Rangierbahnhof (shunting yard) (thanks Armin Mühl)
