Facing north, standing on the track to Diesdorf.
The track is gaining height here to cross the river Jeetze and the line
Oebisfelde - Salzwedel later. The dam beyond the gate has been dug away
to make room for a parking lot. On the right-hand side of the photo is the
trackbed with sleepers of the line to Badel. |

Bridge again, looking north. |
Part of the abandoned chemical plant of
Salzwedel. |
Between the river and the viaduct the Salzwedel-Diesdorf
line runs on a high dam |
The Diesdorf line crossing the Oebisfelde
line on a viaduct. Beyond this point the rails have been removed so only
an 'island stretch' of about half a kilometer of track remains. |
Back on track towards Badel. Here the line
runs across the factory grounds of the chemical plant, once a major customer
of the railway. |
Transformer buildings and some leftover
tracks |
Some buildings on the grounds have found
new users, but others like this one have been left to decay. |
