Note the sleeper in the foreground. Many
sleepers in this short stretch have attachments for an extra rail. Between
the main station and the chemical plant there was a combined narrow and
normal gauge track for a while. Sleepers from that track could have been
reused here. More likely however I think there was a guide rail here to
prevent derailments in the somewhat sharp curve. |
Looking south, Abzweig Jeetze, right next
to the railway viaduct. The turnout to Badel in the railway to Oebisfelde
has been removed. |
Back at Krinau |
Krinau station building. I don't know were
the name Krinau is derived from as the village name is Kricheldorf. I suppose
it is the name of the area. |
Krinau was used as shunting yard for the
chemical plant. Only one track has been left. |
Looking west, the turnout at the east-end
of Krinau. |
A bit further east the railway has been
thoroughly blocked by the Magdeburger straße. |
From the other side of the road |
Fuchsberger Straße and the parallel
running railroad. |
The rubber factory was once another important
customer of the railroad. At least the loading dock is still used. |
